Cosmetic Dentist Parramatta

What are the steps involved in preparing a tooth for dental crowns?

A dental crown can be placed usually within two visits.

First Visit: During your first visit, we will examine and prepare your tooth. We will usually take dental x-rays and if any decay or gum disease is present, may recommend root canal treatment. You will receive sedation dentistry treatment to make the procedure more pleasant.

Next, we will file down the teeth requiring the dental crown or if a large area of your tooth is missing, we will use filling material to build up your teeth.

After we have reshaped your tooth, we will make impressions of the tooth. These impressions are then sent to a laboratory where your crown is manufactured. We will also make a temporary crown to cover and protect your prepared tooth.

Second Visit: At your second visit, we will remove the temporary crown, number your teeth and gums and permanently cement your new crown in place.
