The dentists and hygienists at Active Dental are experts at helping you keep your mouth and teeth healthy.

We can help you stay healthy with a Preventive Care Program especially for you. We will help you keep you teeth and gums nice and healthy and also make sure you know how to do this between visits.

Prevention is always better than treatment. By actively preventing disease and decay through regular home care, professional dental cleaning and regular examinations, you can maintain your healthy, beautiful smile with ease for a long time.

Regular hygiene appointments are truly the best insurance for your teeth. Our practice Hygienists Kristine Galustian and Jessica Olivier are dedicated to helping you with the long-term care of your teeth and gums. They understand how you may be feeling about coming to the dentist.

At you Hygiene Appointment:

• The dentist will ask you about the health of your mouth and teeth and if you have anything you are concerned about. A very small Intra Oral Camera will then be placed comfortably in your mouth and some images of the inside of your mouth, gums and the surface of your teeth will be taken. You will then be shown these images immediately on a screen so you can have a good look at them and discuss what you can see. Your teeth, gums and whole mouth will be examined by the dentist to ensure everything is healthy and there is no bleeding or inflammation. The Dentist will again talk about what you would like him to do if there is anything he may have noticed in your mouth.

• Our Hygienist will Professionally Clean and Scale your teeth to gently remove all tartar and plaque that has built up on your teeth since your last visit. If you are a smoker you will unfortunately have more tartar built up on your teeth as well as staining which can sometimes be more difficult to remove.
  

• Another Intra Oral Image will be taken to show you the difference once all the tartar and staining has been removed by the Hygienist. Our patients love to see the after images when their teeth look and feel so much better.
  

• You can ask the Hygienist how to brush and floss correctly especially areas in your mouth that you may be missing. This can easily happen even if you think you are brushing your teeth and gums properly. We often say to patients only brush and floss the teeth you want to keep! When you start to neglect your teeth and gums by not brushing and flossing, bleeding starts, then gum disease begins and eventually it can lead to the pain of infection and tooth loss!
  

• You will be given a copy of your Intra Oral Images to take home showing the before and after of your teeth and gums. The kids will love these and want to come in for their own!
  

• You will be asked to make another appointment for 6 months time to make sure the build up of plaque and bacteria in the mouth is only ever small. Most people feel these 2 appointments each year saves them from having lots of dental work done as well as saving them lots of money and time. Some patients may need to see us more regularly if they need to have treatment for bleeding gums. Once this has been treated they will see us in 6 months time for their next Preventive Care appointment.

• We are also only a phone call away and if after your appointment you forget to ask something, our Hygienists will personally contact you to help you.
